Traffic emissions

TMfS provides the capability to model traffic emissions through its purpose-built environmental appraisal module (ENEVAL). ENEVAL provides emissions analysis for both main pollutants and Greenhouse gases.

NOx Emissions

Vehicle exhaust emissions are disaggregated into seven components: CO, HC, NOx, PM10, C, CO2(e), and CO2.

Emissions are calculated for the whole study area, but can be disaggregated by link, zone, or by a user-defined area.

The speeds used in the emissions calculations incorporate both link-based and junction-based delays. It is also possible to treat queuing at junctions separately within the greenhouse gas emissions calculation.

ENEVAL's GIS mapping capabilities provide a simple but effective way to present information on emissions to policymakers or other interested parties.
