  • Work across boundaries, sharing information and matching resources to priorities
  • Be a visible leader who inspires trust, actively uses teamwork to deliver objectives and takes responsibility for overcoming setbacks
  • Communicate at all levels and with diverse groups; able to present complex information clearly
  • Deal with conflict constructively and able to take tough and unpopular decisions when appropriate
  • Promote change and innovation, supporting staff dealing with uncertainty
  • Set an example in the commitment to and promotion of equality and diversity
  • Listen to and act on feedback, always learning and aware of your impact on others

Band C - Managing People & Performance

  • Communicate & agree measurable objectives with teams and staff, aligned with the Scottish Government's priorities
  • Be approachable, listening to and giving feedback on performance
  • Regularly talk face to face with individuals and groups to give support and recognition on performance
  • Manage change and continuour improvement, dealing with resistance and conflict in a constructive way
  • Engage and use HR experts to support learning & development and tackle poor performance
  • Be self aware, understanding personal impact on others
  • Actively manage your own learning and development
