SCS Specialist - Information & Communication Technology

Maintain awareness of current best practice and exploit new and existing technologies to improve the quality of service delivered to the citizen
- Keep under review the efficiency and effectiveness of ICT functions, including potential opportunities for shared service provision in line with Efficient Government goals
- Work in partnership with ICT experts to achieve the Scottish Government's priorities
- Ensure any major ICT projects within the responsibility of the team are conducted in line with Gateway Review principles
- Perform effectively the role of senior responsible officer or sponsor for ICT projects
- Use ICT systems to support the Scottish Governement's information management principles
SCS Specialist - Customer Service
- Deliver professional, responsive services, with particular emphasis on connecting with the needs of the citizen
- Ensure that equality and diversity priciples are at the heart of your service to customers
- Maintain or introduce customer feedback systems and act on feedback
- Ensure that staff at all grades receive appropriate training to provide high quality customer service
- Use the performance management system to underpin accountability for customer service standards
- Consider adopting externally validated service standards, eg Charter Mark
SCS Specialist - Partnership Working & Stakeholder Management
- Conduct my team's relations with partners and stakeholders in a way that is consistent with appropriate protocols, eg the Scottish Government's Compact with the Voluntary Sector and Good Practice Guidance on consultations
- Ensure our partner/stakeholder networks properly relfect diversity and offer equality of access
- Use effective partner/stakeholder relations to inform the provision of well-rounded policy advice and risk assessment
- Communicate effectively with partner/stakeholder networks about Scottish Governement's policy direction and achievements
- Be a trusted and reliable source of assistance and information for partners/stakeholders
- Ensure that the team's relations with partners/stakeholders are informed by the outcome of SE and other relevant stakeholder surveys
SCS Specialist - Organisational Performance Management
- Take personal responsibility for promoting a culture of continuous improvement
- Identify best practice from across public and private sectors, including appropriate use of benchmark data and business excellence techniques
- Ensure the team has a clarity of vision about the operational delivery priorities
- Keep under review opportunities to improve performance and reduce bureaucracy
- Ensure that key business areas operate in line with Best Value principles, using formal reviews where appropriate
- Develop effective strategies for working across organisational boundaries to deliver Scottish Government's priorities
