Interlink M74, the joint venture working on the M74 Completion Project, will be undertaking works to install beams to carry the new motorway over the Glasgow Road during the next two weekends.
Temporary closure of the Glasgow Road between Potters Way and Southcroft Road will be required whilst the installation is undertaken on Saturday night to Monday morning on the 31st October to 2nd November and 7th to 9th November.
The works will create the following road closures and detours from 7pm Saturday evenings to 6am Monday mornings on both weekends:
Glasgow Road will be closed between Potters Way and Southcroft Road
Potters Way will be closed at its junction with Glasgow Road
Potters Way will be closed between Glasgow Road and Quay Road North
Glasgow Road between Main Street (Rutherglen) and Potters Way will be closed with local access only
Diversions will be put in place to take vehicles at the southern end of the closure heading west along Burnhill Street, Westmuir Place, Prospecthill Road then Portormin Road, right onto Aikenhead Road, right along Polmadie Street then left onto Polmadie Road, bearing right along Rutherglen Road then continuing along Glasgow Road to the northern end of the closure.
Vehicles at the northern end of the closure should proceed northwest along Glasgow Road continue along Rutherglen Road then turn right along Shawfield Drive then right along Dunn Street then right along Dalmarnock Road then right along Farmeloan Road then right along Main Street to the southern end of the closure.
Vehicles at the southern end of the closure heading east should proceed east along Main Street and follow the instructions above in reverse.

"The works are a key part of the M74 Completion Project, carrying the new motorway over the Glasgow Road. This project is completing a vital motorway link and will reduce congestion around Glasgow as well as provide strategic transport links for industry in the West of Scotland."
Vehicles requiring access to Rutherglen Industrial Estate should access via Queen Street, unless weighing over 7.5 tonnes when they should wait at Southcroft Road and call the Traffic Management team on 07881 868 408.
