Traffic Management details released for Eglinton Street as M74 Completion works continue

Interlink M74, the joint venture working on the M74 Completion Project, will shortly be starting construction work which will impact on traffic flow on Eglinton Street and the surrounding area.

The work will allow delivery of the main span of the new Port Eglinton Viaduct and is a key part of the M74 Completion Project.

Commencing from Monday 9 March, the traffic management outlined below will be in place initially for six weeks, although some continued effect will be felt along this route until May 1 2010. Regular updates on on-going planned work will be released.

Eglinton St (northbound):  Gourock Street to Cumberland St – road reduced to one running lane and bus lane suspended

Eglinton St (southbound):  Cumberland St to Turriff St – road reduced to one running lane. There will be no right turn into Kilbirnie St with a diversion via Turrif St, Pollokshaws Rd and Devon St.

Traffic management arrangements are also planned to Francis St, Ritchie St, Salkeld St and Stromness St, full plans will be released once finalised.

A spokesperson for the joint venture  commented:

"We apologise in advance for the these traffic management procedures will have but it is a key part of the  work to ensure that construction of the M74 completion project stays on track.

"The completion of the M74 will bring significant economic and social benefits to businesses, communities and industry in the West of Scotland  Completion of the vital missing link in the M74 will reduce congestion and provide strategic transport links for industry in the West of Scotland. Better access for customers and suppliers will benefit thousands of businesses in the surrounding areas."
