The excavation of the southern yard has shown a complex story relating to the bank of three kilns and the individual kiln to the north. It appears that two of the kilns to the west within in the bank of kilns, were earlier than the eastern kiln of this group. The flues are also a later addition to this group.

The individual flue appears later than the bank of kilns and to have been built with a flue. To the west of this were the remains of a drying room. This would have been used to dry pots prior to their firing. This would have had a furnace at one end and a chimney at the other. The walls of this structure are very fragile due to the intense heat from the furnace.
