SCS - Communications & Marketing

  • Use communication & marketing to put the citizen at the heart of policy development and operations
  • Use cross departmental customer information to target consumer/citizen needs & use communication channels
  • Align policy and delivery with clear communications objectives and measurement criteria
  • Understand wider ministerial and communications agenda across the Scottish Government
  • Work in partnership with communications & marketing experts to achieve Scottish Government's goals

SCS - Project & Programme Management

  • Take responsibility for the definition and delivery of programme benefits through cost effective measurement processes
  • Can oversee the development and delivery of a viable business case
  • Anticipate, manage and monitor programme/project risks using market knowledge and networks
  • Ensure effective communication with stakeholders
  • Commission and contribute to OGC Gateway Reviews
  • Work in partnership with PPM experts to achieve goals

SCS - Analysis & Use of Evidence

  • Predict and secure appropriate evidence as a basis for decisions, including testing for deliverability and evaluation
  • Link evidence with specific outputs to challenge decision-making, and identify ways to improve its quality and use
  • Use of a variety of tools in collecting and analysing evidence, balancing concerns of users and suppliers
  • Ensure deployment of evidence is consistent with wider government requirements
  • Work in partnership with a wide range of analytical experts to achieve organisation's goals

SCS - Financial Management

  • Influence the organisation's business model and be adept at communicating it to internal and external audiences
  • Plan, agree and monitor the delivery of targets. Identify and implement ways to improve resource and assets efficiency
  • Interpret a wide range of appropriate financial information to make management decisions
  • Competent when evaluating investment appraisals for decision-making
  • Assure the Board on the highest standards of internal controls and public sector governance
  • Work in partnership with finance experts to achieve goals
