Transport Scotland has published a guide to provide homeowners, businesses and landowners with information about the compulsory purchase, compensation and objection process for the Forth Replacement Crossing.
Guidance on the Parliamentary Process, Compulsory Purchase Process and Compensation
People who have property, farms or businesses which are directly affected by the FRC are encouraged to consult this guide.
The compulsory purchase procedure, including issues relating to tenancy, severance, blight and voluntary purchase, is explained in the guide.
Entitlements to compensation during construction of the scheme, subsequently arising from the use of the scheme or where property is compulsorily purchased are also outlined.
The compulsory purchase and compensation process has been adapted from existing guidance which applies to major road and bridge construction projects.
The rules relating to compulsory purchase and compensation are complex and property owners are advised to seek independent professional advice from a surveyor or solicitor. However, if you require clarification on any matter contained in the Transport Scotland guide, please contact Transport Scotland.
It also explains how the Hybrid Bill promoting the project will progress through Parliament.
Please view the project contact details if you have an enquiry specific to the Forth Replacement Crossing project.
If you wish to make a more general enquiry, please view the information about Transport Scotland for details.
