The process of identifying the contractor who will build the Forth Replacement Crossing is now under way. A contract notice inviting bidders for the main crossing and connecting roads was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) at the end of June.
The first stage of the process involves identifying a shortlist of bidders who will participate in the tender competition starting at the end of 2009.
For the purposes of procurement, the project is being divided into three separate contracts. The main contract includes:
A further procurement exercise will be undertaken later for two separate, smaller contracts on the scheme, but which will be delivered early in the project programme; the first for the upgrading of Junction 1A on the M9 and including the provision of ITS on the M9 Spur from Scotstoun Junction to Newbridge; the second for the provision of ITS in Fife from Admiralty Junction to Halbeath.

A total of 39 parties have requested the Prequalification Document and have registered their interest in Principal Contract:
Those who have registered their interest and wish to compete in the tender competition have been required to submit a completed Prequalification Questionnaire by 23 September 2009. Thereafter, the process will involve identifying a shortlist of companies who will be invited to participate in the tender competition.
We propose to announce the shortlisted companies in November 2009.
