Public Exhibitions January 2009

In January 2009 more than 2,200 people attended public information exhibitions staged by Transport Scotland in communities on the north and south side of the Firth of Forth.  Over 200 responses were received by Transport Scotland.

Following this, Transport Scotland published:

The main concerns expressed by South Queensferry residents were:

  • Desire to reduce the height and visual impact of the road embankment to the south of the town
  • Concern of a potential rise in traffic levels on Builyeon Road
  • Desire to move and simplify the South Queensferry junction, reducing the number of roundabouts
  • Desire for more direct public transport links.

As a result of this feedback the South Queensferry Junction was moved west to connect with the A904 at Echline.  Dedicated bus links were added to and from the A90 in the Scotstoun area. These changes allowed the height of the embankment to be reduced and the new layout will result in less traffic using the A904 Builyeon Road.

Since the exhibitions Transport Scotland has continued to meet with communities and in June and July held discussions with local residents, community councils and other affected parties about the construction phase and landscaping and mitigation.
