Benefits to the west of Scotland

Companies in the west of Scotland produce 60% of Scotland’s manufactured goods. Many of these companies currently rely on the increasingly congested M8 to transport these goods. Completing the M74 will allow these companies to transport their goods to market quicker thereby enhancing business competitiveness and job creation opportunities.

Business Expansion and Relocation

The M74 Completion project provides the opportunity for businesses to expand or re-locate and take advantages of the road.

An independent Business Relocation Team has been working closely with affected businesses for a number of years to advise and assist in the relocation process.

Over 100 businesses were affected by the scheme. With the assistance of the Business Relocation Team, the majority of these have relocated. Some businesses have been able to expand as a result of their relocation.
