Road Safety

By transferring traffic from local roads onto the M74 the project will have a positive impact on road safety by:

reducing the number of accidents by between 525 and 700 in the first 20 years after opening
facilitating the development of strategies to allocate previously congested road space to cyclists and pedestrians
promoting the introduction of traffic management and traffic calming schemes.
