Excavation at pier 2 has been undertaken, while one base and stem have been cast with reinforcement work at the second base having been started.
All of the concreting at the west abutment front face has already been done and the next task is to do the same at the large wingwalls, which will be done over the next four weeks. A total of 22 of the 27 beams are now on site and it is hoped work to start lifting them into place will commence around May 10.
Significant progress has also been made to the various Reco retaining walls along the length of the route. The wall at the Polmadie westbound off ramp and the M8/M74 link viaduct wingwalls have all been completed, while wall 9 embankment at Kingston has been surcharged - that is, loaded with additional infil to promote rapid consolidation of the underlying soil - and the settlement is being monitored.
