A negative feature was discovered between Structures 2 and 3 of the Lower English Buildings. This is possibly an air raid shelter. The excavation of Structures 4, 6 and 7 continues. This includes a cellar. The team have started to excavate the surface, structures and deposits within the central area.
The machine stripping of the Iron Foundry area of the site continues. Trenches from the previous archaeological evaluation have been uncovered and are being emptied so as to establish the depths of the deposits across site. A possible manhole has been uncovered, which has a depth of approximately 5 metres. This discovery suggests there may be a network of flues below the archaeological horizon. Further structural remains and surfaces have been uncovered, such as the foundations of walls and the remains of railway tracks. The pre-ex electronic survey of the uncovered deposits and features has been started.
