Auchenshuggle Bridge (Clyde Crossing)

Clyde Crossing

The Auchenshuggle bridge will carry both carriageways of the M74 over the River Clyde. West of Fullarton Road junction, this will be the only point where the motorway crosses the Clyde.

The single span bridge is supported at each end by reinforced concrete supports (abutments). The bridge deck (superstructure) is made up of steel box girder beams with reinforced concrete cast in place over the beams. Once the main superstructure is in place, follow on work (finishes) are required to complete the bridge parapets, to waterproof the bridge and to lay the road surfacing.

The existing cycle route on the north bank of the river will require to be diverted temporarily during construction but will be fully reinstated upon completion of the bridge.
