Fullarton Underpasses

The east and west bridges will carry both carriageways of the M74 over the east and west legs of the existing Fullarton road roundabout respectively.

New slip roads will be provided on the west side of the roundabout to/from the new motorway, with the existing slip roads on the east sides being retained.

Each single span bridge will be supported at each end by reinforced concrete supports (abutments). The bridge deck (superstructure) is made up of reinforced concrete beams with reinforced concrete cast in place over the beams. Once the main superstructure is in place, follow on work (finishes) are required to complete the bridge parapets, to waterproof the bridge and to lay the road surfacing.

Some minor impacts on traffic using the Fullarton road roundabout will be experienced during construction of the bridge.

Short overnight and/or Sunday closures of sections of the roundabout will be required when the bridge beams are being lifted into position.
