In order to commence construction of the new M80 southbound carriageway between Mollinsburn and Auchenkilns, the following traffic management arrangements are programmed to be implemented during week commencing 16 August 2010.
All A80 traffic will be switched onto the new northbound carriageway between Mollinsburn and Auchenkilns. Initially, the two lanes of northbound traffic will be moved onto the new carriageway. This will allow completion of tie-in works and the two lanes of southbound traffic will be switched onto the new northbound carriageway as soon as possible thereafter.
As part of this traffic management arrangement the Auchenkilns southbound on slip will be amended from a merging slip road to a ‘Give Way' for this phase of the works.
The traffic management arrangement will be as shown on the schematic layout when fully implemented.
Highway Management (Scotland) Ltd (HMG), the company delivering the M80 Stepps to Haggs Project on behalf of Transport Scotland, wish to advise of necessary height restrictions introduced at bridges in the areas listed above.
As part of the M80 works Old Inns Road Bridge, Forest Road Bridge and Dullatur Road Bridge are presently being upgraded. Construction works to these bridges have been ongoing since June 2009 and will be complete by the Spring of 2011. These works are an essential part of the delivery of the M80 Stepps to Haggs Project.
The next phase of works to Forest Road Bridge has introduced a new height restriction of 4.5 metres at this bridge from 1 June 2010, which will be in place until Spring 2011. Height restriction goalpost barriers have been erected at the Forest Road Bridge with a maximum headroom of 4.5 metres, to protect the workforce and the works, for details please see the map of the area.
The existing height restriction of 4.5 metres at Dullatur Road Bridge, and associated goalpost barriers will also remain in place until Spring 2011.
Advance warning signage has been erected to make drivers aware of the height restrictions with signed diversion routes in place. All HGV drivers are being urged to be observant upon approach to these bridges, adhere to advance warning signs and to be mindful of height restrictions.
Road Policing Officers will ensure the monitoring and where necessary enforcement of the above warning signage and the bridges have been incorporated in to their M80 patrol schedules.
The recent temporary height restriction at Old Inns Bridge was removed on 30th May 2010, reinstating the original height clearance of 5 metres at this bridge.
HMG would like to apologise for any inconvenience these essential bridgeworks may cause and ask for your continued ongoing co-operation.
