New off- line improvement at the Den North Ayrshire

What is involved in the project

New off-line improvement at The Den, North Ayrshire. The Den improvement scheme is being promoted by North Ayrshire Council. Transport Scotland will promote the necessary orders for the scheme but the programme for delivery is driven by the council.

As an interim road safety measure, high friction 'anti-skid' surfacing has been implemented and additional signing is being provided

Why is it needed

To bypass a series of sub-standard bends, improve traffic flow and introduce road safety benefits.

How will the project impact on travellers

The bulk of the work is remote from the existing carriageway. however, traffic will be subject to some delays during construction operations

What traffic management will be in place during the project

Work will be conducted under lane restrictions using temporary cones, lines and signs

What will the environmental impact be

Loss of agricultural land and hedgerows will be mitigated by new landscape planting and grasslands. A new drainge system will be included as part of the design
