Project benefits
These improvements will provide continuous dual carriageway between Aberdeen and Ellon, which will remove the bottleneck caused by the existing single carriageway. The local community have been pressing for this upgrade for a number of years.
Route Options Public Exhibition
On 15 and 16 June 2006 a Route Options Public Exhibition was held in The White Horse Inn, Balmedie between the hours of 12 noon and 8 PM on both days. The exhibition provided an opportunity for the public to comment on the emerging route options. A copy of the exhibition brochure and Route Options Public Exhibition Report are provided in pdf format.

Impact on travel
The proposed scheme after construction will result in improved and more reliable journey times and improved safety.
Traffic management
As most of the construction work will be off-line, traffic management will only be required at the tie-ins. The contractor will be required to produce a traffic management plan to demonstrate that delays will be kept to a minimum.
Environmental impact
Environmental impact is detailed in the Environmental Statement which was published on 1 November 2007.

Draft Road Orders and an Environmental Statement for the proposed scheme were published on Thursday 1 November 2007, with the accompanying Compulsory Purchase Order published on 10 July 2008. An additional Compulsory Purchase Order No.2 was published on 19 February 2009.

Public Local Inquiry
The Public Local Inquiry was held during the week commencing 18 August 2009 at the White Horse Inn, Balmedie.
Following the Pre-Inquiry meeting on 24 March 09, the Stage 2 Addendum Report published in November 2006 was made available for information.
