Scottish Green Bus Fund - Background

The aim of the Scottish Green Bus Fund is to help support and hasten the introduction of low carbon buses across Scotland.
 
Forty eight new low carbon buses will enter the Scottish Bus Fleet between July 2011 and August 2012 as a result of the £4.4m Scottish Green Bus Fund.

Background

  • The Scottish Green Bus Fund was officially launched on 5 July 2010
  • The Scottish Green Bus Fund operated as a Challenge Fund with a fixed budget of £4.4 million in the financial year 2010-2011. Grants could be offered to successful bidders for up to 100% of the price differential between a LCV and its diesel equivalent
  • EU State Aid approval was granted for the scheme
  • Bids were invited from: Bus Operators, Local Authorities (LAs), Regional Transport Partnerships (RTPs) and Companies leasing/renting LCVs to the above bodies in Scotland.
