Are there any conditions attached?
You are the only person allowed to use your Young Scot National Entitlement Card. It is not transferable. Allowing someone else to use it is fraud and may lead to your entitlement to concessionary travel being withdrawn.
Travel using a Young Scot National Entitlement Card is subject to the normal regulations and conditions of carriage of the transport operators concerned. Your card gives you the same rights as you enjoyed being a full-fare paying passenger.
You should not attempt to obtain free travel with your Young Scot National Entitlement Card if you are not entitled to do so.

What restrictions apply for the bus concession card?
The bus concession card is not valid for discounts on premium fare buses (services not on a standard timetable and charged at a higher than normal rate), City Sightseeing buses or bus travel within England.
What restrictions apply for the Scottish Youth Railcard?
There is a minimum spend required to get the discount if travelling before 10am on a weekday outwith the months of July and August. During these peak times you must spend at least £16 on standard day and open returns or £8 on standard singles in order to qualify for discounted fares. There are no peak time restrictions if you use your SYR to purchase a season ticket.
What if one of my cards or vouchers is lost, damaged or stolen?
If your Scottish Youth Railcard is missing you should report this at your local rail ticket office. For all other cards and vouchers, please contact your local authority who will arrange for a replacement to be issued. The new electronic system will allow Transport Scotland to put a stop on your lost or stolen card ensuring that it cannot be used by anyone else.
I have a Young Scot National Entitlement Card and I will soon be 16. How do I apply for the travel discounts?
You don't need to do anything as you will automatically receive your bus concession card, rail voucher and ferry vouchers (if appropriate). These will be sent to your home address just before your 16th birthday.
I've changed address and I want to update my records. What do I do?
You need to inform your local authority of any change of address. You can contact them by telephoning the number on this list.
I've tried to use my card on the bus but the driver says I don't look the person in the photo. Can I get a new card?
You can get a new photo taken if you feel that the picture is out of date. To do this you should contact your local authority and find out what the process is to update your card.
I have received my bus concession card/rail voucher/ferry vouchers but some of the details on the card are incorrect. How do I get these fixed?
To get a replacement with the correct details, you should call your local authority. The have your record and will be able to fix the mistake and arrange for your replacement to be posted out.
My card was refused and I had to pay full fare for my journey. How do I get a refund?
Unfortunately Transport Scotland is unable to provide a refund is this case. If your card/voucher had expired you will need to get a new card from your local authority to continue getting discounted travel. If your card/voucher was still valid, you should contact the transport provider regarding your enquiry.
