How to apply

If you haven't already been given an application form, find out how to apply for the Young Scot National Entitlement Card by contacting your local authority.

Take your application form, along with your documentation, to a Validation Centre. The staff there will check your form is filled in correctly, confirm your name and address and then send off your completed application for you.

You will then shortly receive your cards and voucher for rail and/or ferry travel in the post.

You should get two different cards and a set of vouchers, depending on where you live.

The Young Scot National Entitlement Card is a smart card that can be used to access a whole range of services available to people aged 11-26.

Your Young Scot card offers a range of discounts in shops, restaurant and the use of local authority services for example. For further information on this you should visit the Young Scot website.

As the card holds the Young Scot branding with the PASS hologram on it, you can also use it as proof-of-age.

The Young Scot card has standard branding that is easily recognised. It also provides the photographic evidence which is used alongside your Scottish Youth Rail Card and ferry vouchers (if applicable).
