The Contractor for the Scheme was Morrison Construction.
The Contract commenced on 23 October 2009, with formal start of siteworks on 2 February 2010, with the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change, Stewart Stevenson, cutting the first turf.
The Mosstodloch Bypass section of the new road was opened by Transport Minister Keith Brown on 27 September 2011 and the Minister returned to mark the completion of the new road by opening the Fochabers Bypass on 31 January 2012.
The Scheme requires the diversion of utility apparatus, including telecoms, power and water supplies. The scope of works in this regard is significant and most of these diversions will be undertaken early in the programme in advance of the new road works. The utilities works will be managed to reduce the necessary disruption caused by both the road works and the utility works.
The new bypass route is generally separated from the existing road, ‘offline' over most of its length, to the south of Mosstodloch and to the north of Fochabers. This will allow a significant part of the construction works to progress with minimal disruption to the adjoining road traffic and both local communities' business and social activities.
