Transport Scotland has delivered just under two miles (3.2 km) extension to the existing dual carriageway at Crubenmore on the A9 between Perth and Inverness.
The new dualled section which opened to traffic on Monday 26 September 2011 cost £10.4 million to build. It will improve road safety and journey times. By nearly doubling the length of dual carriageway for people using the road it will help improve access to and from Inverness and the Highlands.
The completed scheme, along with other work on the A9, reinforces the Scottish Government's commitment to the route - an economic lifeline connecting communities and businesses in the Highlands and Far North with Central Scotland and the South.
