The Contractor for the Scheme is John Paul Construction.
The Contract commenced on 29 September 2010, with formal start of site construction works on 9 November 2010, with the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change, Stewart Stevenson, cutting the first turf.
The new dualled section opened to traffic on Monday 26 September.
The scheme required the diversion of utility apparatus, including telecoms and power. Most of these diversions were undertaken early in the programme in advance of the new road works. The utilities works were managed to reduce any disruption caused by both the road works and utility works.
The new section of widened carriageway was generally constructed along the line of the existing road. Traffic management when required was planned and phased accordingly to allow minimal disruption to trunk road traffic, local businesses and communities.
The scheme also required the re-routing of sections of National Cycle Network Route 7 adjacent to the trunk road works.
