Construction Progress

EAST SECTION

Starting at Southcroft Road and working east, the surface course and white lines are laid up to and over Glasgow Road Bridge. In the westbound verge works are ongoing to the motorway communications hardstanding and environmental barrier and at the bridge the joints and gallery waterproofing are complete.

At the bridge works in hand include; road salt protection, the erection of streetlighting, environmental barriers, and completion of the parapet rail.

Moving east to the area between Glasgow Road and Farmeloan Road progress on the mainline presently sits at binder course level with verge finishes and the concrete safety barrier all progressing towards completion.

From Farmeloan Road to the Clyde the mainline surface course is laid and white lining is underway. Verge finishes are substantially complete. At the bridge the joints and gallery waterproofing are complete.

Under Cambuslang Road Bridge the deterrent paving is ongoing, as are the side road works, all of which requires to be completed prior to opening.

At the Clyde the works around Auchenshuggle Bridge are nearing completion, with verge concrete and concrete safety barrier now in place and joints ongoing. Under the bridge, fabrication of the vandal / vermin screens is underway.

Beyond the Clyde to the tie-in the mainline surface course is ongoing, as are verge finishes. At Fullarton Roundabout the bridges are substantially complete.

WEST SECTION

M8/M74 Eastbound Link Bridge – Substantially complete. Final snagging and finishing ongoing.

M8/M74 Westbound Link Bridge – Substantially complete. Final snagging and finishing ongoing.

Port EglintonViaduct – Substantially complete. Final snagging and finishing ongoing. Expansion joint installation nearly complete

Retaining Walls 12 and 15 (between Pollokshaws Road and Devon Place) - Substantially complete. Final snagging and finishing ongoing.

Strathbungo Railway Underpass – Substantially complete. Final snagging and finishing ongoing.

Cathcart Road Bridge (Phase 2)

Concrete works complete. Brick facings to abutments well underway.

Network Rail Access Road – Substantially complete.

Polmadie Road Bridge – Substantially complete. Final snagging and finishing ongoing.

Rutherglen Railway Station Bridge – Substantially complete. Final snagging and finishing ongoing.

Earthworks and Roadworks

Earthworks

General tidy and topsoiling of all remaining areas and verges ongoing.

Cultivating topsoil and grass seeding

Roadworks

Drainage, gullies and catchpits, substantially complete.

Concrete bound granular material (CBGM) complete.

Waterproofing and sand carpet to all structures complete.

Base and Binder surfacing complete.

Surface Course underway.

Roadmarkings and studs ongoing

Chainlink boundary fence ongoing with progress in line with the programme to completion.

Environmental barrier substantially complete.

CSB (Concrete Safety Barrier) due to recommence at Cathcart Cut end of May.

Feature lighting to structures ongoing with all works due for completion by mid June.

Mainline lighting, including installation of flanged columns on structures, with all available sections now illuminated, and final testing underway.

Safety Barrier nearly complete, with Port Eglinton Viaduct barrier ongoing.

Erection of sign poles and faces nearly complete.

Hard Landscaping nearly complete.

Gantries progress, in summary:

  • All Gantries now erected with electrical commissioning and testing ongoing.
  • Snagging to steelwork ongoing.

High Mast Lighting at Kingston

All Masts erected and painted, with all but one now illuminated.

Side Roads – Kingston

Final testing of Street lights is substantially complete.

Side Roads- General

Major works at Aikenhead Road ongoing, with completion programmed by late June 2011.

Hard Landscaping under Polmadie Road Bridge complete.

Public Utilities

Scottish Power connections with works nearly complete.
