June 2011 update
Stepps to Mollinsburn
Traffic has been flowing on this section of the new road since February, while finishing works have been ongoing on the hardshoulders, verges and embankments slopes alongside. The new bypass links with the existing M80 just east of Junction 2 Robroyston and ties in with the existing A80 east of Mollinsburn.
This brings the benefits of significantly reduced traffic flows on the existing A80 past the communities of Muirhead, Chryston and Moodiesburn.
Works to complete the new Hornshill Roundabout and Crowwood to Hornshill Link have progressed well, while maintaining traffic flow and access for local traffic.
With traffic flows significantly reduced on the existing A80 between Crowwood and Mollinsburn the refurbishment works to this section of road have commenced and will continue through the summer.
Lindsaybeg Road Overbridge
Bridge construction was completed in August 2010 and the new road was opened to traffic in early November 2010. The road is currently open under a 40mph traffic layout to enable the safe completion of final roadworks.
Kelvin Valley Footbridge
The new Kelvin Valley Footbridge is open to the public. Finishing works to the verges and landscape areas along the footpaths are now complete.
Auchengeich Road Overbridge
This bridge is complete and is providing pedestrian access over the new Moodiesburn Bypass. Finishing works to the new road are nearing completion and the opening for public vehicles is planned for the near future.
Mollinsburn Interchange
The new Mollinsburn Interchange is the most complex section of the M80 Project. At this new interchange the M80 provides links to the M73 and surrounding local access roads to Westfield, Mollinsburn, Moodiesburn and Gartferry.
Significant progress has been made since the last update in February 2011. Demolition of the old M73 bridge demolition was completed in March and the new A80 roundabout, linking the local road network with the M73 and the M80, has been constructed in this location.
Similarly significant progress has been made on the new roundabout at the west side of Mollinsburn, which also provides critical links between the local roads and the motorways.
Works to complete these roundabouts and the slip roads and links to the M73 will continue into the Autumn, with changes in the traffic layout being implemented where necessary for safe road use and ongoing works. Up to date information on the traffic layout is available on the traffic management page.
Mollinsburn to Auchenkilns
Traffic is once again flowing on each carriageway, following significant progress on construction of the southbound carriageway of the new road. This change in traffic layout is allowing finishing works to be advanced in the verges of the northbound carriageway.
Luggie Water Culvert - Structure is now complete
North Road Overbridge
The road over the bridge was completed in January 2011. The current one-way traffic operation will continue until completion of roadworks on the southern approach to the new bridge during the Summer.
Low Woods Bridges
Bridge refurbishment and strengthening works on the three bridges over the M80 at Low Woods are nearly complete and temporary traffic layouts have recently been removed, returning the traffic flow to normal operation.
Auchenkilns to Haggs
Construction of the new M80 northbound and southbound carriageways and verge widening works from Auchenkilns to Haggs is now nearing completion.
The A8011 (Wilderness Brae) is now fully open to traffic and the new slip roads and permanent traffic signals at remodelled Old Inns Junction are in operation.

Seabegs Bridge
Essential strengthening and refurbishment works to the existing Seabegs Bridge, which carries the B816 Castlecary Road between Castlecary and Allandale, have been completed. Improvement works to the road on both approaches to the bridge are ongoing, which require one-way traffic operation over the length of road affected.
Glenview Avenue Overbridge - Complete and opened to traffic in July 2010
Kilsyth Road Overbridge
Construction works to provide new parapets to the bridge are complete. New approach walls on the south side of the bridge are also complete with works to provide new approach wall on the north side continuing. Works to the bridge is planned to complete in the Summer. Kilsyth Road remains open for vehicular and pedestrian traffic throughout these works.
Redburn Culvert Extension
The new bridge to carry the realigned Castlecary Road through an arch of the existing viaduct is nearing completion. Road carriageway works will be completed in the near future and thereafter the existing road will be diverted over the bridge; clearing the way for construction of the northbound emergency lane of the M80 in this location.
