Construction Progress August 2007

Forth Crossing – Main Structure

Work on the new bridge deck continues to make steady progress. The bridge deck is being constructed in sections which are then pushed out over the piers. The deck has now reached the half-way point at the location of the central navigation span. Of the 26 deck spans, 13 have now been constructed and the fourteenth is currently under construction.

Bowtrees Interchange

The new interchange is progressing well at Bowtrees which will take the M876 / A876 over the A905 road. The new bridge deck is currently under construction, as is the new A905 carriageway below the bridge. The completion of the A905 road will allow the temporary traffic diversion to the west of the new bridge to be removed.

Construction of the M876 / A876 slip roads is progressing well.  These slip roads will be used to divert traffic off the existing roads, allowing the earthworks to be completed on either side of the new bridge.

A977 North Tie-in at Kilbagie / Gartarry

The A977 carriageway tie-ins were successfully completed during the weekend of 17–20th August 2007, despite the poor weather conditions. Due to the proximity of these works to the existing Gartarry roundabout, and in order to minimise disruption to the public, traffic management was undertaken using a convoy system with assistance from Central Scotland Police.
