Construction Progress February 2007

The New Crossing bridge deck is currently being constructed on the north shore of the Forth Estuary and will be incrementally launched out over the marine piers. The first span of 45m was launched on the 23 January 2007, and the next span is planned to launch in February 2007. Work on the marine piers and their foundations is progressing, and the majority of the pier foundations can now be seen across the width of the river. Also visible from the shore is the access walkway spanning between piers.  This walkway is necessary to allow access for the next section of the pier construction.
