Construction Progress February 2008
Upper Forth Crossing
The construction of the new Upper Forth Crossing is continuing to make steady progress. The new bridge deck was pushed into its final position on 20th February 2008. The principle bridge structural works that remain include the placement of the permanent bearings on each pier, and the placement of the parapet edge beam that will support the vehicle restraint railing. These works will continue into Autumn 2008.
Other Structures
The four smaller bridges within the scheme are nearing completion. Currently abutment wing walls remain to be constructed at the A905 Underbridge, the A876 Halls of Airth Overbridge and Carse Road Overbridge. It is likely that this work will be completed by April 2008.
Road Works
The construction of the Grade Separated Junction at Bowtrees continues to make good progress, with work now concentrating on completing the remaining earthworks embankments for the M876/A876 mainline and the A876 Eastbound Merge slip road.
The construction of the new roundabout at Higgins' Neuk is well underway, with a significant amount of earthworks and carriageway drainage complete.
A large section of road pavement has been completed north of the Forth Estuary, including sections between Carse Road and the new Kilbagie Roundabout near the Gartarry Roundabout.
