The 2.1 kilometre southern bypass of Kincardine element of the project - the Kincardine Eastern Link Road – has been progressed ahead of the main crossing works to release some early benefits to residents of Kincardine, and to improve journey times for the travelling public.

This £10million design and build project is being constructed by RJ McLeod (Contractors) Ltd, who started works on site on the 19 May 2003.

The works were substantially complete and the road was opened to traffic on 5 July 2004.
