NTS development process

The 2004 Transport White Paper, Scotland's Transport Future, committed the Scottish Government to develop a National Transport Strategy (NTS), which would:

• Cover the medium to long term
• Provide a longer-term strategic direction for transport policies
• Be based on widespread consultation
• Cover all travellers and all modes of transport
• Be supported by the Regional Transport Strategies

The open and wide-ranging consultation formed the basis for the development process of the National Transport Strategy and a report on the consultation process is available.
